April Video a Day: Eight Bit Tiger, “An Education”

Back in the early 1990s I had a very short-lived stint as a club DJ in Charleston, South Carolina at the infamous mixed-clientele private late night dance club Treehouse, spinning rock and alternative dance singles on a weeknight. The new single from Chicago and Stockholm, Sweden based duo Eight Bit Tiger reminds me of that club in the early days of techno and rave music. It’s just retro enough to conjure up visions of that cramped dance floor (it was on the second floor of a downtown row house, very long and narrow) and the sweating, undulating masses celebrating their humanity into the wee hours of the morning. The guys even dance a little bit like that in this clip, even if the major refrain is “I’m never gonna dance again”.
