Daft Punk’s new album due out in May is Random Access Memories, but in this video you won’t hear more than a few seconds of one of the songs. Instead what you get is a great interview with producer and disco artist Nile Rodgers, one of the band’s collaborators on the new album. It’s a web series the band is doing with Q&A sessions for all their collaborators; Giorgio Moroder was featured in a previous one. In the interview Rodgers discusses Chic, disco, where he’s been and how he does what he does. It’s obvious he enjoyed the Daft Punk sessions, as he says,
“The best collaborations in my life are when the people you work with are as good as you expect and then even better than that.”
If you’ve forgotten how influential Rodgers has been, this is a great reminder…if you don’t think you’re familiar with his work, think again, and listen to this interview.
