There are plenty of examples of musicians who are also visual artists, and some of them are good, some bad…Chris Mars of the Replacements did his own album covers for his solo discs, for example, and several Beatles, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and even Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane/Starship/etc. paints, though many of them might fall in the latter part of that first statement.
Locally here in Columbia, SC, Kenley Young’s bass player Woodie Wentworth was part of an art opening last night which reminded me how much I enjoy her mixed media approach to graphic design and illustrations. Here’s one of the pieces that is on display at Devine Eyes as part of the “Falling Objects” show:
