Making a Case for CherryCase

This summer, Columbia, SC band CherryCase continues an impressive surge of activity that began with the release of their debut EP earlier this year. The band’s sound is anchored around the emotive vocals of Jake Etheridge which are in turn surrounded by waves of maudlin melody that recall both Josh Ritter and Chris Carrabas.

Later this summer the band will play a pair of shows at two legendary venues in Nashville–Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and the Bluebird Cafe. The latter is a familiar haunt to fans of Music City songwriters and acoustic in-the-round shows; CherryCase may be anticipating the unusual venue with an upcoming acoustic EP set for release soon.

Hometown fans will be able to catch the band’s show at New Brookland Tavern on July 15th with Haley Dreis and others on the bill; for a taste of how the acoustic side of the group might sound check out these clips from a recent semi-acoustic performance at The White Mule:
