Though they no longer live in Columbia, Johnny Irion and Sarah Lee Guthrie have strong roots in the area where Irion spent part of his youth, having lived here as a couple for about seven years–though much of that time was spent touring the world as a musical duo and with Sarah Lee’s dad, Arlo Guthrie and the extended Guthrie clan. They live up in New England near Arlo now, but they’ll be in town next Wednesday, May 7th, at Cafe Strudel. It’s a very small venue (With a connection to the duo–they used to live just down the hill from the restaurant, and Irion’s Ex Tempore album from 2007 includes a song inspired by the cafe) click on that link for advance ticket info.
